There is no snack easier than this to make, and children love it. It consists of white bread, spread with butter or margarine and sprinkled with hundreds-and-thousands, which are tiny sweet balls of different colours. The slices of bread are cut into triangles and stacked on plates. The Australian National University's first printed record of the term fairy bread is in C. Clarke's Children's Party Ideas (1979). They note that although many people have claimed they can recall the term used decades earlier, no hard evidence has been found. |
